I recently had a discussion with a friend of mine who is working on finishing high school. He is really passionate about becoming a cook. After high school, he plans to go to culinary school. His goal is to own a food truck and serve people great food. He doesn’t yet know what kinds of foods his truck will serve. One thing you wouldn’t miss if you met him is that he is passionate and very driven. I smiled as I listened to him talk about his dreams. I could sense the passion and focus of a man who has found his life calling. 
He wants to serve others with food. How excited I would be to eat a meal prepared by a man with such sense of calling to cook and serve.
I’d rather eat a simple meal from him than a luxurious meal from someone who simply cooks to make money or earn a living.
There are people who cook for a living. And there are people who cook because they are called. Those who cook because of calling do it as their contribution to something bigger than themselves. Their sense of calling inspires them, guides them, and serves as a source of unending passion. It sets their work apart. Cooking becomes a way of ministering to people’s needs beyond their physical hunger. Such service impacts and transforms both the cook and the diner. It gives meaning to the cook’s life and healing to the eater. Their food is beyond great, you can taste it in your bones.

One of the best things you can do for yourself is to find your calling. When you find it, you will really start living.
